Dear Sports Enthusiasts,

On behalf of Teq Sri Lanka, I am pleased to welcome you to our official website.

I am proud to have become Teq Sri Lanka’s first honorary president and I wish to extend my gratitude towards the  Fédération Internationale de Teqball and Teqball Federation of Sri Lanka.

The year 2020 marked a major turning point for our society. Along with the heightening of uncertainties brought about by Covid-19, people’s lifestyles and work styles, as well as sport, physical activity, and other social systems as a whole underwent major changes. Through these changes, we have experienced the great value of leadership, technology and innovation in sports.

Teqball, a new, innovative, ingeniously simple and fun ball game is a football-based sport played on a unique curved table with a regular football. It combines table tennis with football. The game develops technical abilities with the ball, aerobic capacity, coordination and many more cognitive abilities in a healthy, competitive environment.

Even though Teqball is a new sport in Sri Lanka, it has been embraced by many sports enthusiasts as sport in Sri Lanka is a significant part of the Sri Lankan culture. Nevertheless, the easy nature of the sport is taking the world of football by storm as it is enjoyable and can be played with a minimum of just two players. Therefore, finding players is not hard and it is easy to assemble compared to other forms of mainstream sports in Sri Lanka. This paves way for the Teqball Federation of Sri Lanka to make its major multi-sport event debut at the games and it will undoubtedly reach the Olympic Games soon with all the hard work and determination of Teq Lankans.

I thank all Teq Lankans who are set to make 2021 another record-breaking year and continue to introduce our sport to people around the country. As honorary president, I will ensure that my leadership, technology and sports skills will be used for the development and as a driving force of our growth.

I hope that the innovative approach taken by Teq Sri Lanka together with FITEQ and its widespread international recognition will continue to chase the dream of taking Teqball to every country in the world and to every corner of Sri Lanka. Therefore, it should be introduced in school levels where our students can receive an opportunity to continue to learn about the sport and be excited about the future of Teqball.

We hope that the innovative approach taken by FITEQ and the widespread adoption of the sport show there remains considerable scope for new sports to engage with youth around the world. I would like to see Teq Sri Lanka stand at the centre and be the driver of dynamic change in the world of sports. We have the responsibility to transform these strengths into concrete values that benefit society with a new sports culture. To fulfil this purpose, we endeavour to connect technology and human hopes, to implement a vision of a brighter curved world in the sports arena.
